Day one of adulthood

Apart from working in a school, I have not had to sit at a table and listen to a 'teacher' talk and carry out activities. In another blog, I will explain how I got to where I am. The last time I was in a school, I refused to go to lessons, talked back to teachers and struggled so much in the classroom. A part of me was worried that in the back of my head, I was not going to be able to get secondary school Chloe out of my head and things would result as they did back then.

I don't think I have told you about the course I am on, I am on the Education Foundation Year Course, hoping to get onto the Primary Education Course, or another course if I am interested in something else.

What course are you on or have done?

  • Creativity

  • Education

  • STEM

  • Sports

Let me tell you about my first lecture....oh wait...I missed it. I have no idea what happened, I just remember waking up to messages on my phone telling me I had missed my lecture. I had no idea what to do. Do I message the lecturer? Do I just not do anything? Luckily, everything was online so I was able to jump onto Moodle and start taking my notes down.

I was so confused as to how I missed my first lecture, I was slightly embarrassed but shortly got over it. I completed all my work, writing down the notes and doing the activities set. I had to read and write notes about What do Student Teachers Need to Know About Child Development.

Once I completed that I went and chilled in the kitchen for a bit with my flatmate. It is funny when you hear another block having a fire alarm, and you get to watch all of them leave, some with faces of shame and some with faces of annoyance. When you have a fire alarm, the main things you should take with you are either a coat, jumper blanket or robe, so you stay warm, something for your feet e.g. slippers, crocs, sliders or flipflops, because they are easy to put on and your phone and key card.

Then for some reason, later that night, it was 2:30 am and I still was awake. I think as you're

still getting to know each other, no one wants to leave the university kitchen as that is where the best conversations happen. However, do not mess your sleep schedule up because it can toy with your mental health too. I had a lecture the next day at 9:30 am and I was still awake at 2:30 am.

Quote of the blog:

"The secret to your future is your daily routine" - this would have been great for when my sleep pattern got rigged (my fault), if I had a good sleep pattern, I would have been able to get up early in the morning, have breakfast, get on with my day, doing productive things rather than laying in bed until the evening and missing the whole day, including daylight. It also messed with my mental health and caused future Chloe to have a few extra mental health problems.

The next blog is about struggling to sit still and work and having a game night with some friends and being my true happy self.
