I have never had a boyfriend before so I have never had to do a meet the family part. I was excited, but also very nervous as they do not speak much English and I wanted them to like me.
I got on my 4-hour train journey to go and see him. It was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. There were 4 trains as well, I had a 30-minute wait in between a train so I stopped off to get some food and spent about £11 on 3 items.

When I got into his area, I immediately fell in love with the sighting and view. It was stunning. I texted him, I want to move here! He sent a laughing face emoji, and I had to state that I was serious.
When I got to the last stop I got off and called him to let him know I had arrived. He was waiting for me on the other platform by the barriers. I got to the top of the bridge, looked down, smiled, and nearly tripped down the stairs.
We walked to his and he showed me his town centre, I was getting nervous as we got closer. We got to his and his dad helped get everything into the house (my suitcase and backpack) and his mum hugged me. We went into his living room and waited for food to be made. It was a beautiful welcome and I felt welcomed. We had some food, which was meat and potatoes and then we chilled in his room for the evening. Later on, the rest of his family came over as it was New Year's Eve. I got to know his cousins and auntie and uncle and some of their friends. Everyone was so nice and welcoming.
One of the best traditions they have is at midnight the adults go around throwing rice in every room wishing good luck for the new year.
While staying at his we went to different places in his area, he showed me his college and secondary school. We went for different walks, but everywhere I went was just beautiful sceneries. I was in love. Not just with my boyfriend, but his home town.
On the day of going back to university, we were supposed to wake up at 6, but we didn't even sleep as we knew we were going to be getting up early. It was a 4-hour drive back to the university. I slept the whole way, it was so lovely.
Quote of the blog:

This quote is so true, it felt perfect to meet his family and be in their home. I felt so special and they made me feel so welcome. I look forward to seeing them everytime and feel I have got a good bond with them already.
