One Day or Day One

If you are at university or have been to university have you really, deeply thought about the concept of living at university? You are being 'shipped' off to a place of no familiarity, no friends, no family and no clue. You see in the Pitch Perfect movies, they find a girl group and become world-famous singers or in Legally Blonde, where the whole world is pink and you become a world-famous lawyer within 1 hour and 34 minutes. It is crazy, the thought of starting afresh, by yourself with no support.
My family were aware I wanted to get to the university as soon as possible. We left around 9:00 am to get to the university at 11:00 am. My dad drove into the university and my heart was beating harder than ever, thinking I had no idea what I was doing here. Part of me wanted to drop out at that moment so I didn't have to go any further. I got out of the car and asked one of the accommodation helpers where the accommodation office was. I was directed to it and that is where I picked up my envelope and bag. The envelope contained my lanyard, key card and student identification card. The bag contained leaflets, a card with support helplines and a condom.

I walked up to my block and I used the card to get in, however, it ended up not working. I was an official adult, I didn't need help from anyone until I realised I was hot,
flustered and embarrassed. I asked for some help, handy, as they came and helped with my suitcases and boxes. I moved into my room, but I wanted to be the one to decide what went where.
We took a break and went out to Wetherspoons, as a student, this is the best place to eat out as it is cheap, quick, filling and easy. If you are there after a certain time or you are with anyone who is buying an alcoholic drink, have your identification ready as you will be asked for ID.
I was then dropped back to my new bedroom, where I said a quick goodbye. This is the best way to do it, as long goodbyes are much harder. I sat down on my bed and cried for roughly 30 minutes. I took pictures of all the damage in my room so at the end of the year, they couldn't charge me for damage that was not my fault.
I am living in a block with 4 floors including a ground floor, however, on my floor, there are 6 of us. There are 3 guys and 2 other girls. I met 3 of them in the kitchen when I was putting my milk away. One of the girls screamed "Chloe"! I am not going to lie, I had no clue who any of these people were. I got to know all their names and then we went and knocked on another one of our flatmate's doors.
I started sorting some of my room out when I remembered I had a talk to go to and I was already 30 minutes late. I was so nervous as I had no clue where it was, who I was going with and what it was about. I left the block and bumped into someone random and I asked them to take me to it. This was the most embarrassing moment of my university life, walking into this auditorium late, all heads turning towards me, the speaker stopped for a moment and then I was told as there were no seats I had to sit on the floor in front of everyone. This is a memory that can never leave my mind.
Tell me your embarrassing university story/ any embarrassing story to put me out of my misery:
For dinner, we met at the flat and went to the cafeteria, it was my first time there and I had no idea what to do. A way the university supported us through the new experience was by allowing everyone 1 free meal from the cafeteria. This was incredibly useful, it took away some stress from the system.
What do you call the place you get food from?
Cafeteria
Canteen
Caf
Dinner Hall
We invited 2 of the block mates from below us to have a kitchen party. It was my first kitchen party at university, but I was on medication and was not allowed to drink, so it was not as fun as I hoped it would be. However, I enjoyed having a laugh and getting to know one another. It became a crazy night, but university is a fun and crazy experience.

Quote of the blog:
"Every End is a New Beginning" is the quote chosen for this blog. This is because my end was living at home and working and having a whole life over there and the new beginning was to new adventures, new friends and a whole new lifestyle. It is difficult to start over, but you will always have the memories and it is time for some extra memories.
